Smart Cards are made with inbuilt electronic chip, which is having a memory 256bytes, 1 KB, 2kb, 4kb, 16kb and 32kb, where employee’s related information can be fed into the card itself e.g., employee name, designation, department etc.
The biggest advantage of the smart card is that a single card can be used for Multiple Applications e.g. Attendance, Access Control & Canteen Management etc. Hence, there is no need to keep multiple cards. In other words, keeping a single card makes the weight of your wallet much lighter and avoids the scariness of losing these cards.
A smart card is a tiny PC without screen and keyboard. Similar to a credit card, each smart card contains an IC on a microchip capable of processing and storing bytes of electronic data.
People can use smart card for Departmental Stores, Banks, Departmental Stores, Airlines, Gas (petrol), Hospital, Education Institutes, etc. Each card identifies the card issuer and cardholder. The Data of the User will be in the Smart Card electronically stored with security, so, that other than rightful Issuer of the issued smart card no one can read or write over the smart card.
During making a purchase or payment of bill, the smart card needs to verify its authenticity; this authentication check is done by the Smart Card Reader whenever the Smart Card is inserted into the Reader.
Information in the smart card can immediately verify the cardholder’s identification and any rights to which the card entitles for can processed. Details of the User, Details of the issuer, sales, and bills of all the information can be processed electronically on the spot; later on, if necessary, those records can be transmitted to a central computer to update its files.
